What is spotted python?

The spotted python (Antaresia maculosa) is a species of python native to Australia. It is a relatively small python, reaching lengths of up to 3-4 feet.

Spotted pythons have a distinctive appearance, with a pattern of dark spots or blotches on a lighter background color. They are typically gray or tan with black or dark brown spots, giving them their name.

These pythons are found in a range of habitats, including woodlands, grasslands, and rocky outcrops. They are mainly nocturnal, hunting for small mammals, birds, and reptiles.

Spotted pythons are popular as pets due to their small size, docile temperament, and relatively easy care requirements. They are typically non-venomous and pose little threat to humans.

In the wild, spotted pythons are threatened by habitat loss, predation by introduced species, and collection for the pet trade. Conservation efforts are in place to help protect these unique and beautiful snakes.
